英語訳

[Continued from previous page] With the wish — held by Hyōbu-no-Taifu during his lifetime — that both the household members and the people of the domain might live in peace and security, the house elders, one and all, humbly presume to present this petition without regard to the impropriety of doing so. Respectfully submitted. Matsudaira Ogimaru House Elders Memorandum Item: After the gracious decree issued some years ago — by which Ogimaru was appointed as adopted heir in accordance with Your most benevolent intentions — Hyōbu-no-Taifu considered that, as far as his own person was concerned, this was the fulfillment of his deepest wish even in the eyes of his ancestors, and a matter of the most profound divine grace and grateful good fortune. Given this, it was his heartfelt desire that provisions be made so that Ogimaru's standing and station would also be properly established upon his entry into this household. To be sure, through private channels, [Ogimaru] has been permitted to attend upon the inner quarters of both O-maru compounds, and has received gifts from the Three Gosho-sama — all of which are gracious acts of the most manifold and deeply appreciated kindness. With regard to the foregoing, since this house has, from ancient times, by virtue of a close and special relationship, been shown exceptional treatment — as attested by precedents of old — [Hyōbu-no-Taifu] considered that if a formal decree were issued from Ogimaru's early years, restoring even one item at a time in accordance with the ancient protocols, this would serve to properly establish Ogimaru's standing, and after his maturity, would be regarded as a matter of exceptional and most grateful good fortune. It was [Hyōbu-no-Taifu's] intention to humbly lay out this matter through private channels at an opportune moment; however, having fallen ill since last winter without respite or recovery, he was unable to convey these innermost thoughts, and passed away...
