小梁川（中務）の儀、三十三歳になりましたところ、男子がおらず、三歳の女子が一人おります。笠原内記組の荒井権之助の実弟・山三郎（当年十八歳）を、右の娘の婿養子にお迎えいただき、末々は中務の知行高八十貫文のところを、右山三郎にお与えくださり、また御一家・御座敷の格式もお申し付けくださいますよう、お願い申し上げます。右山三郎の義（身分・関係）は、中務方からは二親等、山三郎方からは（同じく）二親等の従兄弟（いとこ）の関係にございます。中務の義、昨冬より少しずつ日数をかけてお願い申し上げておりましたところ、近頃は至って芳しくなく、色々と養生いたしておりますが、次第に容体が重くなり、九死一生の状態にございますため、このようにお願い申し上げる次第でございます。

Regarding Koyanagawa (Nakatsukasa): he has reached the age of thirty-three and has no male heir, but has one daughter aged three. We humbly request that Sanzaburō, the natural younger brother of Arai Gonnosuke of Kasahara Naiki's unit, aged eighteen this year, be received as a son-in-law and adoptive heir to said daughter, and that in due course the stipend of Nakatsukasa—eighty kan of rice land—be granted to said Sanzaburō, and that he likewise be invested with the ranks of御一家 (go-ikka) and 御座敷 (go-zashiki). As for the relationship of said Sanzaburō: he is a cousin two degrees removed on Nakatsukasa's side, and two degrees removed on Sanzaburō's side. Nakatsukasa has been making this request little by little since last winter, but in recent days his condition has been far from favorable; and although he has been taking various restorative measures, his condition has gradually worsened to the point of being a matter of life and death, which is why this petition is being submitted at this time.
