この坪 三百九十九坪九分八厘
法として、指渡し（直径）六寸を掛け合わせると三十六となる。これに長さ一尺四寸六厘四毛を掛けると、五百〔余〕六坪三厘〔余〕四糸となる。これに円法七九（0.79）を掛けて坪数を求める。
角の一面に換算して見るには、指渡しを掛け合わせて三十六を得て、これに七九を掛けると二八・四四となる。これを開平法（平方根の計算法）で割ると、角の面として五寸三分三厘三毛を求めることができる。

As the method: multiply the diameter (sashi-watashi) of 6 sun by itself to obtain 36. Multiply this by the length of 1 shaku 4 sun 6 rin 4 mō to obtain 500-odd [tsubo] 6 [tsubo] 3 rin with remainder 4 shi. Multiply this result by the circular coefficient 79 (i.e., 0.79) to find the area in tsubo.
To convert this to the equivalent side length of a square: multiply the diameter by itself to obtain 36, then multiply by 79 to obtain 28.44. Dividing this by the square root method (kaihei-hō), one finds the equivalent square side to be 5 sun 3 bu 3 rin 3 mō.
