As the method: to the perimeter of 7 shaku 6 sun 2 bu 5 rin, add the interior measurements — 8 sun 3 bu 3 rin 3 mō at two locations, and 8 sun 3 bu 3 rin 4 mō at one location, totaling three segments summing to 2 shaku 5 sun — this being understood as the "hand-tip" (projecting) dimension. Adding this to 7 shaku 6 sun 2 bu 5 rin gives 1 jō 1 sun 2 bu 5 rin. This is established as the total perimeter of all four sides.
