元銀百六十貫目を四つに割り、四十貫目を人参の二百五十斤にて割れば、壱斤につき百六十目（の直段）を知る。人参百一斤十両（について）、
十両を両へ四を掛けて四十目となり、壱斤の目（匁）百六十目をもって（百一斤と）二分の五（すなわち）壱斤の代を掛けて求める。沈香も四十貫目を七十斤にて割れば、壱斤につき五百七十一匁四分二厘八毛四糸と知る。二十八斤十四両を、両は人参のごとくして二十八斤三五（＝二十八と三十五分の何分か）になり、壱斤の銀を掛けて求める。
巻物も四十貫目を二百八十巻にて割れば、一巻（につき）百四十二匁八分五厘七毛一（糸と知る）。

【Method】
Dividing the original silver of 160 kanme into four equal parts gives 40 kanme. Dividing this 40 kanme by 250 kin (the total quantity of ginseng) gives the unit price of 160 monme per kin. For ginseng's 101 kin and 10 ryō:
Multiply 10 ryō by 4 to convert to monme, yielding 40 monme. This means the quantity is 101 and 40/160 kin, i.e., 101 and 1/4 kin. Multiply this by the unit price per kin (160 monme) to obtain the answer. Likewise for aloes wood: dividing 40 kanme by 70 kin gives 571 monme, 4 fun, 2 rin, 8 mō, 4 shi per kin. For 28 kin and 14 ryō: convert the ryō in the same manner as for ginseng, yielding 28 and 35/something kin, then multiply by the unit price per kin to obtain the answer.
For rolled goods as well: dividing 40 kanme by 280 rolls gives 142 monme, 8 fun, 5 rin, 7 mō, 1 shi per roll.
