**[Right Page]** Upon instructions from the Head Officer, I assembled my subordinate officials (tetsuke), agents (tedai), and rural laborers, and went out to the site. There, in coordination with the Town Magistrate, I made arrangements for fire suppression. However, as the fire spread from multiple points and developed into a great conflagration, we worked to contain it at various locations, and it was finally extinguished on the night of the following day, the 20th, just past the Hour of the Bells and a Half (approximately 11 p.m.), at the western side of Oyumichō. We hereby submit this report. Respectfully. Almost immediately, a fire broke out at Tenma, and I promptly assembled the personnel listed by name above and deployed to the scene. At Tenma Bridge, yoriki and doshin of the town's administration had taken up defensive positions armed with spears and firearms. Furthermore, having received rumors that the rebel band was approaching from Higashinari District and the Kawachi Province area, I judged it advisable to circle around to the rear approach and cut off the back route, and so I deployed as far as the Nakano Village riverside embankment along the Yodo River and held that position. As there were no further reports of peasants massing from the villages or of uprisings and rampages in the rural areas, and as the fire in Osaka appeared to be growing ever larger, I dispatched my agents in separate directions to the various villages, and I myself first withdrew from that position. Upon hearing reports that the rebel band appeared to have fled from the vicinity of Awaji-machi, I sent word to colleagues in the Kamigata, Chūgoku, and Saigoku regions regarding arrangements for the capture of the rebels, and furthermore... *(continues on next page)*
