五日の夜九つ時（午前0時頃）から地震が起こり、砂が降り始めました。七つ時（午前4時頃）に止みましたが、六寸ほども積もりました。六日の夕方頃から地震と雷電、稲光が起こり、
七日の昼時から真っ暗闇となり、空が赤くなって、まことに顔に色のない人のようでした。
町中も村々も共に数千人ほどが鉦や太鼓を鳴らし、
家ごとに出て獅子や狼を追い払い、七つ時から少し明るくなりました。
