その上出火により全て焼失した村々もあり、一つの村で三、四十人位から二、三百人程も即死・怪我人が出ました。善光寺町は家並みが大体全て倒壊し、その上焼失して大変な数の即死者・怪我人等が出ました。
全体として街道筋は、この時期善光寺の供養のため大勢の旅人が宿泊しており、そのため死人も多数おりました。山中辺りは遠方で僻地のため様子が分かりにくいのですが、犀川の上流で山崩れがあり、川が堰き止められて流水が全くなくなり、丹波島の渡船場が干上がって徒歩で渡ったりしているとのことです。越後国の件はどのような状況か様子が分かりません。以上は風聞によるもので、まだはっきりとは分からない状況です。
早速手代を派遣して支配地の潰れた家その他を見分・吟味の上、近隣の村々の損害等も風聞を調べ、詳細については追って報告いたします。また、お預かりしている陣屋付きの同国佐久郡の村々については、前記と同時に大地震がありましたが、善光寺辺りとは距離も離れているためか、陣屋並びに支配地その他近隣の私領村々とも僅かずつの怪我人・破損家等はありましたが、大したことはなく、怪我人の死者等はございません。
とりあえずこの件をお届けいたします。以上

We will immediately dispatch representatives to inspect and investigate the collapsed houses and other damage in our administrative territories, and will also investigate rumors about damage in neighboring villages.
