【右丁】
とりわけ色は「桜色」と呼ばれるもので、蕾のときは色が赤みを帯びているが、開くと少し薄くなる。茎は青みがかっている。

法輪寺（はうりんじ）
【下段】
○怡顔斎いわく、江戸（桜）の中でも上品なものである。八重咲きで大輪であり、開花するのは江戸（桜）より遅い。花びらの重なりは厚く、茎は長い。この花の茎が短いものを、すなわち「大江戸」という。大江戸と法輪寺とは、まったく同一のものである。

Its color is particularly what is called "cherry-blossom pink" (sakura-iro): when in bud, the color is a deep reddish hue, but upon opening, it becomes somewhat lighter. The stem is greenish in color.

○Ikansai states: This is the most refined and elegant among the Edo cherries. It has double blossoms (yaezaki) and large blooms, and opens later than the Edo cherry. The layering of the petals is thick, and the stems are long. That which has shorter stems is called "Ō-Edo" (Great Edo). The Ō-Edo and the Hōrinji are, in their entirety, one and the same variety.
