○怡顔斎曰 千弁（せんよう）白色 枝（ゑだ）の頭（かしら）に攢（むらが）り
垂（たる）る即大 手毬（てまり）の枝たれたるものなり
○鈍永曰花形立 揚（あが）り色 莟（つぼみ）のときは濃（こ）く
開きて一 際（きは）薄く三四重大輪なるもの

【右丁】
○怡顔斎いわく 千重咲き（せんようざき）、白色。枝の先端に花が群がり垂れる。すなわち、大手毬（おおてまり）の枝が垂れたるものである。
○鈍永いわく 花の形は立ち上がり（直立気味）、色は莟（つぼみ）のときは濃く、開くにつれてひときわ薄くなる。三、四重咲きにして大輪のもの、これをまた「大提灯（おおちょうちん）」という。

【Right folio】
○Igan-sai states: Multi-petaled (senyo), white in color. The flowers cluster and droop at the tips of the branches. This is, in effect, a variety of Ō-temari (Large Temari Ball) in which the branches hang downward.
○Don'ei states: The flower form stands upright. In color, the buds are deep, and as they open, they become noticeably paler. Those with three or four layers of large petals are also called "Ō-chōchin" (Large Lantern Cherry).
