○怡顔斎いわく 千重咲き（せんようざき）、大輪なり。一つの苞（ひれ）より五つの花房（ふさ）が一か所に集まる。よってこの名が付いた。甚だ美しい。糸括（いとくくり）の類であろうか。花の形は桐谷（きりたに）にも似ている。

○鈍永いわく 中輪よりはやや大きく、一重咲き（ひとえざき）なり。花びらはことのほか広く、厚い。茎（くき）は長い。楊貴妃（ようきひ）よりは色がやや濃く、艶やかで美しい。

【Right folio】
○Igan-sai states: Multi-petaled (senyo), large-flowered. From a single bract (hire), five flower clusters gather at one point — hence the name. It is exceedingly beautiful. It may perhaps be a variety related to the Ito-kukuri (Thread-bound) type. The flower form also resembles that of the Kiritani cherry.

○Don'ei states: Larger than a medium-flowered variety, yet single-petaled (hitoe). The petals are especially broad and thick. The stem is long. The color is somewhat deeper than that of the Yōkihi (Yang Guifei) cherry, and it is lustrous and beautiful.
