悲田院（ひでんゐん）に有然れども花《振り仮名：未＿レ貼｜いまだつかず》是 暖国（だんこく）の
木京地の寒（さむ）き地へ移（うつ）したる故木 長（ちやう）ぜ
ざるもの也京師の緋桜とは別種なり

【右丁】
花は八重の紅梅に似て、甚だ紅（あか）い。葉も樹も皮も、全く桜と異なるところはない。この種は東山の泉涌寺・悲田院にあるが、花はいまだ咲かない。これは暖かい国の木を、京の寒冷な土地へ移したためであり、木が十分に生長しないものである。京師（きょうし）の緋桜とは別の種である。私は悲田院へ出かけて、これを直接目にした。

【Right folio】
The flowers resemble those of the double-petaled red plum (*yae no kōbai*) and are deeply crimson. The leaves, trunk, and bark are in every respect identical to those of the cherry. This variety is found at Sennyū-ji and Hiden-in in Higashiyama, but the flowers have not yet bloomed there. This is because it is a tree of a warm region, transplanted to the cold climate of Kyoto, and thus the tree has failed to grow vigorously. It is a different variety from the Hi-zakura of the capital. I myself visited Hiden-in and witnessed this with my own eyes.
