○怡顔斎曰 千弁（せんよう）にて枝（ゑだ）に密（こゝなり）て咲（さく）也
毬（まり）のごとし枝 曲折（きよくせつ）なし花 開（ひら）く事 最（もつとも）
遅（をそ）し是則 麗枝海棠（れいしかいどう）と称（せう）すべし花は
泰山（たいさん）と同但泰山は枝に曲折（きよくせつ）ありて花
疎（まばら）に貼（つく）也
○活所翁桜譜曰桐谷におなし微（すこ）し

○鈍永曰又 紅虎尾（べにとらのを）といふもの有花形

現代語訳
【右丁】
○怡顔斎いわく、千弁（せんよう）で、枝に密につきて咲くものである。まりのようである。枝に曲折はなく、花の開くことが最も遅い。これはすなわち「麗枝海棠（れいしかいどう）」と称すべきものである。花は泰山（たいさん）と同じであるが、ただし泰山は枝に曲折があり、花が疎らについている。
○活所翁の「桜譜」にいわく、桐谷（きりたに）〔の品種〕と同じで、わずかに赤い。枝は長く、花房は丸みを帯びてゆるやかで、疎らなところがある。
【左丁】
虎尾（とらのを）は、その斑文（まだら）が虎の尾に似ていることから名がついた。
○鈍永いわく、また「紅虎尾（べにとらのを）」というものがある。花の形は虎尾と異なるところはなく、ただ紅色が濃いものである。
英語訳
【Right folio】
○Itangansai states: This variety blooms with a thousand petals (*senyō*), densely packed along the branches, like a ball. The branches have no curves or bends, and the flowers open latest of all. This variety ought properly to be called "Reishi Kaidō" (Graceful-Branch Crabapple-Cherry). The flowers are the same as those of Taizan, but Taizan has branches with curves and bends, and the flowers are sparsely attached.
○The "Cherry Catalogue" (*Sakura-fu*) of the elder Kassho states: It is the same as the Kiritani variety, and slightly reddish. The branches are long, the flower clusters are rounded and soft, with some parts where the flowers are sparse.
【Left folio】
The name Toranoo (Tiger's Tail) derives from the spotted markings (*madara*) that resemble a tiger's tail.
○Don'ei states: There is also a variety called "Beni-Toranoo" (Red Tiger's Tail). Its flower form does not differ from that of Toranoo; it is simply one with a deeper red color.
