　　差上申一札之事

当村石切之義村中不残取調書上申候処
此外ニ者壱人茂無御座候尤石切稼ニ罷出旅先ニ而
石切弟子共召抱申間敷候猶又商売先実躰ニ相廻り
可申候様具ニ申聞候処一々承知仕奉得其意候若此上
ニ茂不吟味成義有之候而後日被成御聞及ハヽ其
元ゟ早速御注進可被成候其上如何様之御咎筋
被　仰付候共少茂御恨無御座為後日連印

現代語訳

差し上げ申し上げる一札の件

当村の石切（石工）の件について、村中残らず取り調べて書き上げ申し上げましたところ、この他には一人もおりません。もっとも石切稼業に出かけて旅先で石切の弟子たちを抱えることはいたしません。なお、また商売先の実情をよく調べて回り申すよう詳しく申し聞かせましたところ、一つ一つ承知いたし、その意を得ております。もしこの上でも調べが不十分な件があって、後日お聞き及びになりましたら、その元からすぐに御注進くださいますよう、その上でどのような御咎めを仰せ付けられても、少しも御恨み申し上げることはございません。後日のため連名で印を押します。

A Written Pledge Submitted

Regarding the matter of stone cutters (stonemasons) in our village, we have thoroughly investigated all persons in the village and submitted this report. There are no others beyond those listed. Furthermore, when going out to work as stone cutters, we shall not take on stone cutter apprentices while traveling. Moreover, we have instructed them in detail to thoroughly investigate the actual conditions of their business destinations, and they have understood and acknowledged each point. Should there be any matters of inadequate investigation beyond this point that come to your attention later, please immediately report from that source. Even if any punishment is imposed upon us as a result, we harbor no resentment whatsoever. We affix our seals jointly for future reference.
