現代語訳
肩に引っかけて飛ぶように逃げて行った。しばらくして悪党どもが皆起き上がり、辺りを見ると姫はいない。「南無三宝、騙されてしまった。口惜しいことよ。しかしながら、女を連れて行った見た目では、そう遠くは行けまい。それ、追いかけて打ち取れ」と跡を追って行った。
こうして行春は姫君を肩に引っかけ、心ばかりは急いでも、暮れれば暮れ、雨は降る。どうにもならず暮れてしまった。しかし「追いかけて来るのは間違いない。何とかして逃げ延び、お助け申そう」と足に任せて行った。川合の縄手をようやく過ぎ、夜半頃にようやく沓谷に着いた。ある所で姫君を下ろし、しばらく休んで息をついていると、かの悪党どもが数を増して追って来る。行春は「今はもうかなわない」と思い、「姫君よ、もうお母様のお住まいも近いはずです。夜も明けましたら、屋根の高い家を見つけて中に入り、頼みなされ。太夫も命があれば後から追いつきましょう。足に任せて急ぎなさい」とよくよく教えた。太夫もいよいよ
