現代語訳
打ち破ろうと騒ぎ立てていたところ、その時老臣が走り出て「何者であるか、立ち去れ。やつらを散らせ」と下知したので、血気盛んな若者たちが大勢で敵を取り囲み、難なく敵の大将を捕らえて片隅に引きずって行った。残りの悪党どもは皆逃げて帰っていった。
こうして姫君のことを尋ね申し上げたところ、国主は姫君をご覧になって「さて美しい女性だな。どのような事情があったのであろう」と北の方を招き「あれをご覧なさい」と仰った。北の方がご覧になって「いかにも旅のお身なりをしているが、よく見ると身分のある人と見える。その年頃もただならぬ様子である。どこの国のどのような人であろうか。まずは語ってください。ありのままに語ってくださるならば、女性のことですから、きっとお力になりましょう」と仰った。
