There is an old utensil for grating wasabi and daikon radish that was said to be used in his household, as shown in the illustration. From what I can see, it is a very crude object, and in today's world, who would use such an inconvenient thing? One should consider the customs of that time. However, Fujitsuna was a wise person who disliked wasteful expenditure in the realm. If so, this daikon grater might be his own ingenious invention that required no money. In any case, it should be called an unfamiliar and rare utensil.

Illustration of Aoto Saemon's Daikon Grater
Made of four-bu cedar board, height: 2 sun 9 bu
Length: 7 sun 5 bu, width: 4 sun 3 bu
This was made by cutting thick bamboo like saw teeth and fitting them left and right, then hammering bamboo edges from above so they wouldn't move, allowing daikon or wasabi to be grated by the bamboo corners.
It was designed so that the grated material could be collected through the opening.

In ancient cuisine, there was something called sasagaki namazu (julienned catfish sashimi?), and even now on auspicious days and ceremonial occasions
