●〇参勤交代、その他道中往来の節、本陣にて取り決められた旅籠銭等について。たとえば、百銭と取り決めた内を、下陣（しもじん）においては「引銭（ひきぜに）」と申して、三十銭あるいは四十銭ほどずつ減じて渡す。旅籠屋どもが承引（承諾）しなければ、脇宿へ替えると申し掛け、その支度費のかかることとなるため、是非なく値引きを承けて受け取り、旅籠屋どもが迷惑しているとのことが聞こえてきた。つまるところ、末々の者（下級の者）がこのようなことをしているものと思われる。今後は、右のような事態のないよう、道中に召し連れた末々の者に至るまで、厳重に申し付けるべきである。右の趣、留守居中へ随時通知し合うよう存じる。八月。

● Item: A medical reference work entitled *Fukyū Ruihō* (Universal Remedies by Category, 普救類方), detailing medicines for various illnesses in twelve volumes, has been ordered to be published (hangyō) at this time. The price is nine monme eight bu per set. Both book wholesale dealers and retail sellers are to sell the work at the same price. Those who wish to obtain a copy are to be notified so that they may do so.

Those who wish to obtain a copy are to be notified so that they may do so.

**Genbun 2nd Year, Year of the Snake (1737)**
●〇 Concerning the lodging fees (hatagosen) and related charges established at the honjin (official post-station inn) during the sankin-kōtai (alternate attendance) processions and other journeys along the roads. For example, within a fee established at one hundred mon, those staying at secondary lodgings (shimojin) apply a deduction called "hikizeni" (引銭, a discount fee), reducing the payment by approximately thirty or forty mon. When the innkeepers (hatagoya) refuse to accept this reduction, they are threatened with the party transferring to an alternate lodging (wakishuku), which would entail preparation expenses for the innkeepers; thus the innkeepers have no choice but to accept the discount, and it has come to our attention that they are suffering great hardship as a result. This is ultimately believed to be the conduct of lower-ranking retainers and attendants. Henceforth, to prevent such occurrences, strict orders are to be issued to all lower-ranking attendants accompanying processions along the roads. It is our view that the substance of this notice should be regularly circulated among the caretaker officials (rusuigata). Eighth month.
