先祖西村下総守定次ト申者上杉景勝ニ属シ伊達正宗ト
対陣之節下総守不意ニ正宗ノ陣所エ押寄正宗敗北之故
陣場ニ有之道具並幕ヲ奪取ル其後伊達家ヨリ白石領四
万石ヲ以テ幕ニ替可申旨所望有之候ヘ𪜈上杉家ヨリノ
返答ニ領地ハ何程モ鎗先ニテ取可申候幕ノ儀ハ入用ニ
候間返シ申間敷旨被申遣之由右之幕ハ上杉家ニ有之依
之以後西村下総守家ノ紋ニモ竹ニ萑#1ヲ付申由申伝ヘ候
定次子西村清助定俊ハ何方エモ出勤不仕一生郷士ニテ
罷有候由一族之内西村三助同三平ト申者ハ 秀康公御
代相勤候由清助定俊子六兵衛定秀儀 忠昌公エ被召出
以後 光通公御幼少之時分御抱守役被 仰付年寄候而

先祖西村下総守定次という者が上杉景勝に属し、伊達政宗と
対陣した際、下総守が不意に政宗の陣所へ押し寄せ、政宗が敗北したため
陣場にあった道具並びに幕を奪い取った。その後伊達家より白石領四
万石をもって幕と交換したい旨の要望があったが、上杉家からの
返答では、領地はいくらでも槍先で取ることができるが、幕は必要で
あるので返すつもりはないと申し送ったという。その幕は上杉家にあり、これに
よって以後西村下総守家の紋にも竹に雀を付けるようになったと申し伝えられている
定次の子西村清助定俊はどこにも出仕せず、一生郷士で
あったという。一族の内、西村三助、同じく三平という者は秀康公の
御代に相勤めたという。清助定俊の子六兵衛定秀は忠昌公に召し出され、
以後光通公の幼少の時分に御抱え守役を仰せ付けられ、年を取って

His ancestor, a man called Nishimura Shimōsa-no-kami Sadatsugu, served under Uesugi Kagekatsu and
when confronting Date Masamune, Shimōsa-no-kami suddenly attacked Masamune's camp, causing Masamune's defeat, and
seized the equipment and curtains at the battlefield. Afterward, the Date family requested to exchange the Shiroishi domain of 40,000 koku
for the curtains, but the Uesugi family's
reply was that they could take any amount of territory with spear points, but the curtains were needed
so they would not return them. Those curtains remained with the Uesugi family, and because of this,
the Nishimura Shimōsa-no-kami family crest also came to bear bamboo and sparrows, as has been passed down
Sadatsugu's son, Nishimura Seisuke Sadetoshi, did not serve anywhere and remained
a village samurai his entire life. Among the clan, men called Nishimura Sansuke and Sanpei served during
Lord Hideyasu's reign. Seisuke Sadetoshi's son Rokubei Sadehide was summoned by Lord Tadamasa and
later was appointed as a retainer and guardian during Lord Mitsumichi's childhood, and in his old age
