西尾豊後守のもとへ立ち退いていた。山内の先祖については、数代にわたって鎌倉の
御家人であり、当国足羽郡津野原にいて、その後朝倉家の家臣と
なったという。天正十八年（1590年）小田原の陣の際には十八歳で太閤
秀吉公の御奏者渡瀬摂津守と行動を共にし、関ヶ原の陣の際には前
田孫四郎殿のもとにいて大正寺の陣などに従軍した。その後使番役で
武功のある者を選び出された人数の内に入り、浅黄縅を許されたという。その
後事情があって孫四郎殿が京都に蟄居されたため、家中の者たちは前
田利長に付いた。大坂冬の陣の際には西尾豊後守と共に赴き、これ（夏の陣）の
際には前田利常に呼び出されて供奉して赴いた。帰陣の後
考えるところがあり、早速加州を立ち退いた。その後利常の武者奉行水野内匠
之助という者から大正寺表並びに大坂での働きについてなど
申し越した書状を今でも所持している。十之亟清長は浪人として当国
にいたところ、高屋越後が美濃の同国の縁があったので、高屋越後
から永見志摩へ申し遣わして忠昌公に召し出された。知行千
石を下し置く約束で、初知七百石を下され、当国御入部の後また

二百石の御加増を下され、その上次男甚兵衛が召し出され、程なく新知を下された。
十之亟は御上洛の御供をし、江戸の多安御門・浅草升形の石垣
御普請御手伝などの際に御用を勤めた。

retreated to serve under Nishio Bungo-no-kami. Regarding the Yamauchi ancestors, for several generations they were
gokenin (direct retainers) of Kamakura, resided in Tsunohara in Asuwa-gun of this province, and later became
retainers of the Asakura family. During the Odawara campaign of Tenshō 18 (1590), at age eighteen, he accompanied
Watase Settsu-no-kami, who served as Taikō Hideyoshi-kō's intermediary. During the Battle of Sekigahara, he was under
Maeda Magoshirō-dono and participated in the Battle of Daishōji and other engagements. Later, as a tsukaiban, he
was selected among those with military merit and was granted permission to wear light yellow armor lacing. After
that, due to certain circumstances, Magoshirō-dono was confined to Kyoto, so his retainers attached themselves to
Maeda Toshinaga. During the Winter Siege of Osaka, he went with Nishio Bungo-no-kami, and during this (Summer Siege),
he was summoned by Maeda Toshitsune and accompanied him. After returning from the campaign,
having certain thoughts, he promptly left Kaga Province. Later, from Mizuno Takumi-no-suke, who was Toshitsune's military commander,
he received letters regarding his service at Daishōji and Osaka, which he still possesses today.
Jūnosuke Kiyonaga was a rōnin residing in this province when, due to Takaya Echigo's connections with Mino,
Takaya Echigo made arrangements through Nagami Shima to have him summoned by Lord Tadamasa. With a promise
of being granted a 1,000-koku fief, he was initially granted 700 koku, and after His Lordship's entry into this province, he received

an additional 200-koku increase. Furthermore, his second son Jinbei was summoned and soon granted a new fief.
Jūnosuke accompanied His Lordship on trips to the capital and served in various duties such as assisting with
the construction of the Taan gate in Edo and the stone walls of Asakusa Masugata.

When his father Kiyonaga was granted succession, his second son Jinbei received an allocated fief, and his third son Kansuke
received a stipend and rice allowance. Both of their family lines eventually became extinct.
