とねんごろに諸仏（しよふつ）へ誓願（せいぐわん）ありて。巌（がん）石（せき）峨（が）
峨（が）とそびえたる。そこふかき谷へ。御身をお
しげもなく飛（とび）いらせ給へば。そらより天人あま
くだり中（ちう）にていだきあげたてまつればな
を御こゝろざしの。二ごゝろなき事をあらは
したまはんとて。三 度（ど）とばせたまへども。
すこしもつゝがなく。天人いだきあけたま
ひけり

現代語訳
と心を込めて諸仏へ誓願をして、岩石が峨々と聳え立つ、底深い谷へ、ご自身の身を惜しげもなく飛び込まれると、空より天人が天下って空中で抱き上げ申し上げた。なお、お志の二心ないことを表そうとして、三度飛ばれたけれども、少しも怪我をすることなく、天人が抱き上げられたのであった。

英語訳
With heartfelt sincerity, he made his vow to all the Buddhas, and without hesitation threw his body into the deep valley where towering rocks jutted up precipitously. Heavenly beings descended from the sky and caught him in mid-air. To further demonstrate that his aspiration was unwavering, he leaped three times, but each time he was unharmed, as the heavenly beings lifted him up safely.
