らねたり。されは弘仁七年より。はじめて地
をひらかせ給て同しき拾年五月三日に
はのこりなく。首尾（しゆび）じやうじゆしける。寺号（じがう）
を金剛峯（こんがうぶ）寺（じ）と名づけたまふ。こんりうを
とげたまふ事 権化（ごんけ）のしわざとはいひ
ながらふしきなりし事共也

現代語訳
扉を並べ連ねた。弘仁七年（816年）よりはじめて地を切り開かせ給い、同じく弘仁十年（819年）五月三日に残らず、首尾よく成就した。寺号を金剛峯寺と名付けられた。この建立を成し遂げられたことは、権化（仏・菩薩が衆生を救うために仮の姿をとって現れた者）のなさったことであるとはいいながら、誠に不思議なことであった。

...the doors standing in a row. From the seventh year of Kōnin (816), when the ground was first broken, all was brought to complete and successful fruition on the third day of the fifth month of the tenth year of the same era (819). The temple was given the name Kongōbu-ji. That this construction was accomplished is, though it may be said to be the work of a gonge — a manifestation of a Buddha or Bodhisattva who has appeared in the world in temporary human form to save all beings — truly a most wondrous thing.
