【石山観賢大師の鬚髪剃給ふ事并淳祐手匂ひし事】
生（をひ）て。御ひざをおほへり。御ころもやぶれそんじ
ぬ。希有（けう）のおもひをなして。泣拝（きうはい）せられけり。さて
御ぐしをそりたてまつりて。御ころもをいかゞせん
とおもはれけるに。微風（びふう）をのつからきたつて。本（もと）の
御ころもをふきちらしければ。みかどよりしんぜら
れし御ころもをきせたてまつり給ひけり

【石山・観賢が大師の鬚髪を剃り申し上げた事、並びに淳祐が手に香りが移った事】

（鬚と髪は長く）伸びて、御膝を覆っていた。御衣は破れ傷んでいた。観賢僧正は希有なことと深く感じ入り、泣きながら拝礼なさった。そして（大師の）御髪を剃り申し上げた後、御衣をどうしたものかとお思いになっていたところ、微風がおのずと吹いてきて、もともとの御衣を吹き散らしたので、（観賢僧正は）天皇よりお贈りになられた御衣をお着せ申し上げた。

【On Kangen Shaving the Great Master's Beard and Hair at Ishiyama, and on the Fragrance that Clung to Junnyu's Hands】

(His beard and hair had grown long,) reaching down to cover his knees. His robe had become torn and worn. Overcome with a sense of profound wonder, the Ecclesiastical Administrator Kangen wept as he paid his respects. He then shaved the Great Master's hair and beard, and was wondering what should be done about the robe, when a gentle breeze arose of its own accord and blew away the old robe. He thereupon dressed the Great Master in the imperial robe that had been bestowed by the Emperor.
