【幡慶夢想の事】
つたへ聞大師は第（だい）三地の菩薩。高貴（かうき）徳王（とくわう）菩薩（ぼさつ）
となり。我朝に誕生（たんじやう）まし〳〵て。三 密（みつ）をひろめ。国家（こつか）
を利（り）し。つゐに高野（かうや）の勝地（せうち）をしめて金剛定（こんがうぢやう）に入。
竜下（りうげ）の下生（けしやう）を期（ご）し給ふ。こゝにおもんみれは。住吉（すみよし）大
明神（みやうじん）の御 本地（ほんぢ）も高貴（かうき）徳王（とくわう）菩薩（ぼさつ）なりしとかや。
しかれば高野（かうや）大師と御一 体（たい）分身（ぶんじん）なり。あら有かた
しとのたまひしとかや。これ聖主（せいしゆ）の勅語（ちよくご）なり。たつ
とむべし〳〵。扨 寛弘（くはんこう）年中に河内守（かわちのかみ）久高（ひさたか）当国（たうごく）に
下向（げかう）の時。普光（ふくはう）寺（じ）の住侶（じうりよ）幡慶（ばんけい）かたりけるは年来（としごろ）
高野（かうや）に住（ぢう）せんと思ふこゝろざしあり。しかれ共 資縁（しえん）そ
なへずして。いまだ本意（ほんい）をはたさざるに夢（ゆめ）の中（うち）

【幡慶夢想の事（幡慶の夢想について）】
伝え聞くところによれば、大師は第三地の菩薩・高貴徳王菩薩となって、我が朝（日本）にお生まれになり、三密を広め、国家を利益し、ついに高野山の勝地（すぐれた霊地）を占めて金剛定（こんごうじょう）に入り、竜華（りゅうげ）の下生（げしょう）を期しておられる。ここで思い合わせてみれば、住吉大明神の御本地もまた高貴徳王菩薩であったということである。それゆえ、高野の大師と御一体・分身であられる。「ああ、何と有り難いことよ」と仰せになったということである。これは聖主（帝）の勅語であり、尊ぶべきことである。
さて、寛弘年中に、河内守久高が当国（関東）へ下向された折に、普光寺の住侶・幡慶が語ったことには、「年来、高野山に住もうという志があります。しかしながら、資縁（ざいえん）が整わず、いまだ本意を果たせずにおりますところ、夢の中で……」

【On the Dream Vision of Bankei】
It is transmitted and said that the Great Master became the Bodhisattva Kōki Tokuwō (Bhadraśrī, the Bodhisattva of Noble and Virtuous Majesty) of the Third Bodhisattva Stage, was born in our land of Japan, spread the Three Mysteries (of body, speech, and mind), brought benefit to the nation, and ultimately took up residence at the sublime sacred site of Mount Kōya, entering the Diamond Samādhi (kongō-jō), awaiting the descent of Maitreya at the Dragon Flower Assembly. Upon reflection, it is also said that the original ground (honji) of the Great Deity of Sumiyoshi was likewise the Bodhisattva Kōki Tokuwō. Therefore, the Great Master of Kōya and this deity are of one body and one manifestation. "How wondrous and grateful a thing this is," it was said — these being the words of an imperial edict, which are most worthy of reverence.
Now, during the Kankō era, when the Governor of Kawachi, Hisataka, was traveling down to that province, a resident monk named Bankei of Fukōji Temple told him the following: "For many years I have harbored the aspiration to take up residence on Mount Kōya. However, as I have not yet gathered the necessary resources and support, I have not yet been able to fulfill this wish — and then, in the midst of a dream..."
