【宇治殿御夢想の事】
其後又 宇治（うぢ）殿の御 夢想（むさう）の事有て。小野（をの）の僧正（そうしやう）の
御 許（もと）へつかはされし。又 消息（しやうそく）にいはく。今夜（こんや）の夢想（むさう）也。高（かう）
野（や）山（さん）は十方（はう）賢聖（けんしやう）常住（じやうぢう）の地（ち）。三 世（せ）諸仏（しよぶつ）遊居（ゆうきよ）の砌（みぎり）なり。
善神（ぜんしん）番々（ばん〳〵）に是をまもり星宿（せいしゆく）夜な〳〵にこれにやと
る。是 釈迦（しやか）伝法輪（てんほうりん）の地（ち）。慈尊（じそん）説法（せつほう）の山也。一 度（ど）此地
をふむ輩（ともから）は。三 途（づ）の古郷（こきやう）に帰（かへ）らず。一 度（ど）此山に参る人は。
かならず三 会（ゑ）の下生（けしやう）のあかつきに逢（あふ）と御 夢想（むさう）の有
様 希有（けう）也。若（もし）これさだまれる記文（きもん）あらば。可（べし）＿下 令（せしめ）＿二

【宇治殿の御夢想の事】
その後また、宇治殿（藤原頼通）の御夢想（ゆめのお告げ）の事があって、小野の僧正のもとへ（使者が）遣わされた。その消息（手紙）に言うには、「今夜の夢想のことです。高野山は十方の賢者・聖者が常に住まわれる地であり、三世の諸仏が遊び居られる場所であります。善神が交替しながらこれを守り、星々が夜ごとにここに宿っています。これは釈迦が法輪を転じた地であり、慈尊（弥勒菩薩）が説法をされる山であります。一度この地を踏む人々は、三途（地獄・餓鬼・畜生）の故郷へは帰らず、一度この山に参詣する人は、必ず三会（みつのあつまり）の暁（弥勒菩薩が下生して説法を行う三度の法会）に出逢うことができる」と、御夢想の様子はまことに希有（けう）なることでございます。もしこれに関する定まった記文（きもん）がございますならば、今上（天皇）にお伝え申し上げるようにしていただきたく存じます。御気色（お意向）に従い、件（くだん）の如くご上啓申し上げます。

【The Matter of the Lord of Uji's Dream Vision】
After this, there came the matter of a dream vision experienced by the Lord of Uji (Fujiwara no Yorimichi), and a messenger was dispatched to the Bishop of Ono. The message (letter) conveyed the following: "This concerns a dream vision of this very night. Mount Kōya is a place where the sages and saints of the ten directions permanently reside, and a site where the Buddhas of the three ages dwell at leisure. Benevolent deities take turns protecting it, and the stars lodge there each and every night. This is the ground where Śākyamuni turned the Wheel of the Dharma, and the mountain where Jison (Maitreya Bodhisattva) shall preach the Dharma. Those who set foot upon this ground even once shall never return to the realm of the three evil paths (hell, hungry ghosts, and animals). Those who make pilgrimage to this mountain even once shall surely encounter the dawn of Maitreya's three assemblies (the three preaching assemblies when Maitreya descends to this world)." The circumstances of this dream vision are truly extraordinary. If there exists any established written record pertaining to this matter, I humbly request that it be reported to His Majesty, the reigning Emperor. In accordance with His Excellency's wishes, I respectfully submit this communication as stated herein.
