【御夢の告有て大日経を得給ふ事】
かくて。空海（くうかい）こゝの山々。かしこの浦々（うら〳〵）にて。御しゆ
ぎやうをこたらずまし〳〵ける。なを御心に
決定（けつじやう）し給はさることあれば。ほとけの御まへに
て清浄（しやう〴〵）の御心さしをこらしてちかひたまは
く。われ仏法（ぶつほう）にしたかひて。つねに心をくだき。
しゆ〳〵の法をしゆしもとむるに。三 葉（しやう）五 葉（しやう）
十二 部（ぶ）経（きやう）。心神（しん〳〵）になをうたかひあり。たゞね
がはくは十方三 世（ぜ）の諸仏（しよぶつ）。われに不二の法を
しめし給へと。かんたんをくだきていのり給ひ
ける。あまりに御くたびれありて。壇（だん）の上に

こうして空海は、この山々、あちらの浦々にて、修行を怠らずますます励んでいた。なお御心に決定し給わないことがあれば、仏の御前にて清浄な御志を込めて誓い給うことには、「私は仏法に従って、常に心を砕き、さまざまな法を習い求めるが、三蔵五蔵十二部経について、心神になお疑いがある。ただ願わくは十方三世の諸仏よ、私に不二の法をお示しください」と、肝胆を砕いて祈り給うた。あまりに御疲れがあって、壇の上に

Thus Kūkai continued his ascetic practices without neglect in various mountains here and bays over there, becoming ever more diligent. As there were still matters unresolved in his heart, he offered his pure devotion before the Buddha and made this vow: "I follow the Buddhist Law and constantly exert my mind, studying and seeking various teachings, yet regarding the Three Piṭakas, Five Piṭakas, and Twelve-Division Sūtras, doubts still remain in my mind and spirit.
