をさづけ給ふべし。なんぞたやすく密教（みつけう）をさづ
け給はんやとさま〳〵にいさめ申されしこと度々（たび〳〵）
なりしかと。和尚あへて聞も入給はず。いよ〳〵ひみつ
を御そうでんまし〳〵ける。珍（ちん）賀（が）あるよの夢（ゆめ）に
四 天王（てんわう）こくうよりとびきたり給ひて仏菩薩（ぼさつ）
の御でんばふをさまたぐる事大 罪（ざい）のものなり。
といかれる眼（まなこ）を見出し其 声（こゑ）天地もくづるゝばかりに
かうふくし給へは。珍賀（ちんが）五 体（たい）に汗（あせ）をながし。九 竅（けう）に
血（ち）をそゝひて夢（ゆめ）はすなはち覚（さめ）にけり。其あしたに
いそぎ空海（くうかい）の御寺にまいり。礼拝（らいはい）してつゝしんて
申しけるは

をお授けになるべきです。どうして安易に密教をお授けになるのでしょうか」と、さまざまに諫め申し上げたことが幾度もあったが、和尚（恵果）はまったくお聞き入れにならず、ますます秘密の法を御相伝あそばされたのであった。珍賀はある夜の夢に、四天王が虚空より飛んでいらっしゃって、「仏・菩薩の御伝法を妨げることは、大罪を犯すものである」と、怒りに満ちた眼を見開き、その声は天地も崩れ落ちるほどに響き渡ったので、珍賀は五体に汗を流し、九竅に血を滲ませて、夢はそのまま覚めてしまった。その翌朝、急いで空海の御寺に参り、礼拝して謹んで申し上げたことには、

should be conferred upon him. How could you so readily transmit the Esoteric teachings?" He remonstrated in this manner repeatedly and on many occasions, yet the master [Huiguo] paid him no heed whatsoever, and instead proceeded to transmit the secret teachings ever more fully to [Kūkai]. Then one night, Chinga had a dream in which the Four Heavenly Kings came flying down from the sky, and declared: "One who obstructs the transmission of the Dharma of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas is a being of great sin!" They glared at him with furious eyes, and their voices resounded as if heaven and earth would crumble apart. Chinga broke out in a sweat across his entire body, and blood seeped from his nine orifices, whereupon he awoke from the dream. The following morning, he hastened to Kūkai's temple, prostrated himself in reverence, and humbly said the following:
