現代語訳
正月・四月・七月・十月は亥の日 二月・五月・八月・十一月は寅の日 三月・六月・九月・十二月は午の日 （これらは家作手始めに忌むべき日）
右の日に縄の疣結び（いぼゆび）をすると、火を結び込む（招き入れる）と言われている。立派な土蔵が焼失するのも、このような例によるものであろう。
棟上げを忌む日
正月・二月は卯の日 三月・四月は巳の日 五月・六月は未の日 七月・八月は酉の日 九月・十月は亥の日 十一月・十二月は丑の日
暦に記されている「天火（てんか）」の日には、高い場所での普請・造作を忌むべきである。
毎月両日、大悪日 文殊菩薩の伝来によるものと言われている。

この日は万事において大凶であり、祈念（祈り）をすれば却（かえ）って災難が来るほどの悪日である。
毎日の十方塞がり（じっぽうふさがり）
卯の方角（一の日） 辰と巳の間（二の日） 午の方角（三の日） 未と申の間（四の日） 酉の方角（五の日） 戌と亥の間（六の日）
子の方角（七の日） 丑と寅の間（八の日） 天（九の日）〔高い所に登らず、屋根の普請は無用〕 地（十の日）〔土の中に入らず、土を動かさず〕
例えば、朔日（一日）に東の方角へ行こうと思っても、凶の方角であるため、回り道をするか、あるいは西の方へ百歩ほど行ってから引き返して、卯（東）の方角へ行けばよいとのことである。
英語訳
In the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th months: the day of the Boar (*i no hi*); in the 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 11th months: the day of the Tiger (*tora no hi*); in the 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th months: the day of the Horse (*uma no hi*). (These are days to be avoided at the start of house construction.)
On the above days, if one ties "wart knots" (*ibo-yubi*) in rope, it is said that one "knots fire into" the building—that is, invites fire upon it. The burning of even a fine storehouse (*dozō*) may be attributed to such examples.
Days inauspicious for ridgepole-raising (*munage*)
1st and 2nd months: day of the Rabbit; 3rd and 4th months: day of the Snake; 5th and 6th months: day of the Goat; 7th and 8th months: day of the Rooster; 9th and 10th months: day of the Boar; 11th and 12th months: day of the Ox.
On days marked "*Tenka*" (Heavenly Fire) in the almanac, construction work at heights should be avoided.
Two great inauspicious days each month — said to derive from a teaching of Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva (*Monju Bosatsu*).
1st month: 7th, 20th 2nd month: 2nd, 9th 3rd month: 21st, 23rd 4th month: 18th, 25th 5th month: 6th, 23rd 6th month: 17th, 23rd 7th month: 8th, 23rd 8th month: 18th, 25th 9th month: 3rd, 22nd 10th month: 1st, 3rd 11th month: 2nd, 20th 12th month: 9th, 23rd
On these days, all affairs are greatly inauspicious, and these are such evil days that even offering prayers will bring about calamity rather than relief.
Daily *Jippō-fusagari* (Blockage of the Ten Directions)
Direction of the Rabbit—east (day 1); Between Dragon and Snake—ESE (day 2); Direction of the Horse—south (day 3); Between Goat and Monkey—SSW (day 4); Direction of the Rooster—west (day 5); Between Dog and Boar—WNW (day 6);
Direction of the Rat—north (day 7); Between Ox and Tiger—NNE (day 8); Heaven (day 9)—[do not climb to high places; rooftop construction should be avoided]; Earth (day 10)—[do not enter into the ground; do not disturb the earth].
For example, if on the first day of the month one wishes to travel east, but that direction is inauspicious, one should either take a detour, or alternatively walk about one hundred paces to the west, then turn back and proceed in the direction of the Rabbit (east)—and this will suffice.
