三帖敷きは火の数なりとして、相生の方角であっても忌む人がある。家居には水の縁を用いる例であって、瓦も多く巴（ともえ）を作るのは波の形である。玄関の張り付けにも青海波が多い。しかしながら六帖敷きは水の数であるが、狭い家に六帖敷きの部屋が二つあるものを試しに見たところ、陰気がちで甚だ悪かった。
新宅への移り住みにも火の縁を忌むことであるから、三の日、丙・丁・巳・午の日を忌むべきである。壬（みずのえ）・癸（みずのと）・亥・子の日は水に属して吉である。その際、焼き肴は無用であり、掛け物・墨絵・墨跡の類が良い。また仮家の方角より向かって、両金神・常金神・歳破・塞がり・主人本命的殺等について、家作りの前に選び置いた吉日をもって移るべきである。なお入宅の際の道具の次第があり、貴人は左の通り（である）。

Some people avoid rooms of three-mat (tatami) size even in auspicious directions, considering three to be a number of Fire. It is customary to use water associations in the home — for example, many roof tiles are made with the tomoe (comma-shaped) design representing waves, and the aonami-ha (blue wave) pattern is often used for entryway decorations as well. However, six-mat rooms correspond to the number of Water; yet when I tested a narrow house that had two six-mat rooms, it was excessively yin and extremely inauspicious.
When moving into a new house, since fire associations are to be avoided, one should avoid the days of "three," as well as the cyclical days of Hinoe (丙), Hinoto (丁), Mi (巳), and Uma (午). The days of Mizunoe (壬), Mizunoto (癸), I (亥), and Ne (子) belong to Water and are auspicious. On such occasions, grilled fish dishes are unnecessary; hanging scrolls, ink paintings, and calligraphy are appropriate. Furthermore, regarding the directions of Ryōkonjin, Tsune-konjin, Saiha, Fusagari, and the master's Honmei-tekisetsu, one should move on an auspicious day that has been selected beforehand. There are prescribed procedures for the order of belongings when moving in; for people of high rank, they are as follows (on the left).
