しるしにして二丁町吉原の焼亡度〳〵なれども家作の造
立焼野に草の生ふるが如し
一火防の神を祈るは勿論なれども近火にても風筋替れはのが
るゝ故常に風神尊を祈るべし人丸の神もかきのもと
にて火とまると云理にこそあれ又 易（ゑき）か人相に火災のきざし
あらは早く祈念して何にても所持の品を焼すつへし
一廿八宿の内に亢（こう）宿といふ日あり此日に普請を始めれは十日の内に
凶事ありときくされは普請小屋より出火すること度〳〵あり日々
八宿の吉凶を用ゆる人まゝ有八宿の事は追てあらはすべし
一類焼は是非なけれとも自火を要慎（ようじん）すべし是平日の心がけ第一也まづ
たばこの吹がらを途中にても踏（ふみ）けすべからず石瓦にて消すへし
一毎年正月十二月廿四日 厳（きび）しく禁酒すべし卯の上刻ゟ酉の上刻
まで酒（さか）場にも遣はず客来有ても堅く断るべし自火を出さぬ
まじなひ也世人知りたる事なれともしるし置ぬ
現代語訳
印として二丁町吉原の焼失は度々であるが、家屋の建設は焼け野原に草が生えるように（早く復興する）。
火災予防の神に祈るのは当然であるが、近所の火事でも風向きが変われば逃れられるので、常に風神を祈るべきである。人丸の神も「垣の本」で火が止まるという理屈があるのであろう。また易や人相で火災の兆しがあれば、早く祈念して何でも所持品を燃やすべきである。
二十八宿の中に亢宿という日がある。この日に工事を始めると十日以内に凶事があると聞く。それゆえ工事小屋から出火することが度々ある。日々二十八宿の吉凶を用いる人もまれにいる。二十八宿のことは後で明らかにするであろう。
類焼はやむを得ないが、自分の家からの出火を注意すべきである。これは平日の心がけが第一である。まずたばこの吸い殻を道中でも踏み消すべきではない。石や瓦で消すべきである。
毎年正月と十二月二十四日は厳しく禁酒すべきである。午前六時頃から午後六時頃まで酒場にも行かず、客が来ても堅く断るべきである。自分の家から火を出さない呪いである。世人が知っていることであるが記しておく。

As evidence of this, the Yoshiwara pleasure quarter in Nichōmachi has burned down repeatedly, but the reconstruction of buildings is like grass growing on burned fields (quick recovery).
Praying to fire prevention deities is natural, but since even nearby fires can be escaped if the wind direction changes, one should constantly pray to the wind god. The god Hitomaro also has the principle that fire stops at "kaki no moto" (fence base). Also, if signs of fire disaster appear in divination or physiognomy, one should pray quickly and burn any possessions.
Among the twenty-eight lunar lodges, there is a day called Kō-shuku. It is said that if construction begins on this day, misfortune will occur within ten days. Therefore, fires from construction huts occur repeatedly. Some people occasionally use the good and bad fortune of the twenty-eight lodges daily. The matter of the twenty-eight lodges will be explained later.
While fires spreading from neighboring buildings cannot be helped, one must be careful about fires starting from one's own home. Daily mindfulness is most important for this. First, one must not step on tobacco ash even on the road - it should be extinguished with stones or roof tiles.
Every year on New Year's Day and December 24th, alcohol should be strictly prohibited. From around 6 AM to around 6 PM, one should not go to drinking establishments, and even if guests come, they should be firmly refused. This is a charm to prevent fires from starting in one's own home. Though this is something people generally know, I record it here.
