私の組の岡永右衛門という者に不届きなことがあり御扶持を取り上げましたが、その養母は身近な親類もおらず今日を凌ぎかねて難渋している旨を、組役人共が別紙書付をもって相願いましたので、さらに吟味いたしましたところ相違ございませんので、何卒御憐愍の上、当時御入人もございませんなら、右養母を養育する者を召し抱えたく存じますので、自分抱えに仰せ付けていただきますよう願い奉ります。右の趣旨をよろしくお取り計らいください。以上

一、享和二年戌十月二十七日、上月武左衛門が別紙の通り相願い、御家老中へ相達したところ、勝手次第仰せ付けられたこと
私の組の吉村善蔵という者は寛政二年戌年から今年まで十三ヶ年、御奉公を無難に相勤めましたが、兼ねてより弓鉄砲の武役がある諸組の内で相勤めたいという内願があった由。これにつき、この度御暇をいただきたく相願い申しましたので、さらに組役人共で吟味いたしましたところ相違ございませんので、願いの通り御暇を申し渡しました。しかし右善蔵という者には高借銀がございますので、御益直の上、跡抱えのことを自分抱えに仰せ付けていただきますよう組役人共一統で相願い申します。よって当時御入人もございませんなら、自分抱えに仰せ付けていただきますよう願い奉ります。これらの趣旨をよろしくお取り計らいください。以上 十月 村田十大夫様 御杉形奉行

一、同年十二月、左の通り口上書を差し出した
私の組の橋本庄助という者は先達て出奔いたしましたが、在辺にて見受けた段を知らせてもらったので、一家共が早速参って去月二十七日に召し連れて帰りました。その段を口上書をもって委細御達申し上げましたところ、去る三日に御扶持を取り上げられる段を仰せ付けられ、不調法至極のこと恐れ入り奉ります。しかし庄助の両親および兄弟共が大勢おり、その上高借銀で甚だ難渋至極いたしており、一家共も何も不勝手な者で末々厄介いたし、手段もございません。一統が渇食に及び難渋至極いたしている段を組役人共が相嘆き申しますので、さらに厚く吟味いたしましたところ少しも相違ございません。かつ庄助の親作右衛門という者は安永元年辰年に御作事組へ召し抱えられ、天明八年申年まで十八ヶ年御奉公を無難に相勤めましたが、その折眼病気になり是非なく願いの上立替となりましたが、只今に存命罷在り、その上家内大勢のことでございますれば、誠に見捨て難い趣にございます。よって庄助跡のこと、何卒御憐愍をもって自分抱えを仰せ付けていただきますよう、右の者共を養育する者を吟味の上召し抱えたく存じます。これらの趣旨をよろしくお取り計らいください。以上 十二月 江口源左衛門様 真田五郎兵衛

一、文化九年申五月二十六日、高畠与五左衛門組吉田勇助は当年江戸詰に参る筈のところ、出立前の持病疳積にて御先組一統出立の節に出立し難くいたしましたが、去る十六日夜小用に参る体にて行方不明となり、さらに相願いして御国の内を尋ねさせましたところ、一昨夜牧野嶋村に居る姉方へ参った趣につき、直様組町へ引き取った段を申達しましたので、急度押込を申し付けて置きました。右のような病気とは申しながら不届きにつき、御扶持取り上げ御城下立退を申し付けたく存じます旨につき、その通り仰せ付けられましたが、その後六月十一日、不勝手高借で組一統難儀につき、跡継ぎを自分抱えで願いの通り仰せ付けられました。
一、文化五年辰三月、御城代杉田権之助組田辺要蔵という者は年数未満で病気につき御暇願い、跡を親類の者が相続いたしたく、組役人共の口上書をもって権之助が申し聞かせましたので、その段を御家老中へ相達しましたところ勝手次第と仰せ出されましたので、権之助与力を呼び出して相達しました 但し権之助添口上書等はございません

A man named Oka Einoemon from my group committed misconduct and had his stipend revoked, but his adoptive mother has no close relatives and is suffering hardship barely surviving each day. Therefore, we humbly request your compassion - if there are currently no official appointees, we would like to employ someone to care for this adoptive mother under private employment. 1. On the 27th day of the 10th month of Kyōwa 2 (1802), Kōzuki Busaemon made the following petition, which was communicated to the senior councilors and approved at their discretion:
A man named Yoshimura Zenzō from my group has served faithfully for thirteen years from Kansei 2 (1790) until this year, but he has long held an internal wish to serve in one of the various groups that have martial roles with bows and firearms. Regarding this, he has petitioned for leave this time, so after the group officers conducted further investigation and found no discrepancies, leave was granted as requested. However, this Zenzō has high silver debts, so after settlement, the group officers unanimously petition that his replacement be approved under private employment. Therefore, if there are currently no official appointees, we respectfully request approval for private employment. Kōzuki Busaemon
1. In the 12th month of the same year, the following written petition was submitted:
A man named Hashimoto Shōsuke from my group recently absconded, but we were informed he was spotted in the vicinity, so family members immediately went and brought him back on the 27th of last month. When we reported this matter in detail through a written petition, it was ordered on the 3rd that his stipend be revoked - this is an extremely improper matter for which we are deeply ashamed. However, Shōsuke has many parents and siblings, and furthermore they are in extreme hardship due to high silver debts. The family members are all poor and will be burdens to others in the future, with no means of support, and all are suffering extreme hardship to the point of starvation, as the group officers lament. After conducting a thorough investigation, we found no discrepancies whatsoever. Moreover, Shōsuke's father Sakuemon was employed in the construction group in Anei 1 (1772) and served faithfully for eighteen years until Tenmei 8 (1788), but at that time developed an eye disease and was unavoidably replaced upon request, yet he remains alive today. With such a large household, it would truly be heartless to abandon them. Therefore, regarding Shōsuke's replacement, we humbly request that through your compassion private employment be approved, and we wish to employ someone to care for these people after investigation. 1. On the 26th day of the 5th month of Bunka 9 (1812), Yoshida Yūsuke from Takahata Yogozaemon's group was scheduled to go to Edo duty this year, but due to a chronic illness (intestinal disorder) before departure, he could not depart when the advance group departed on the 16th night. He went out ostensibly to relieve himself but his whereabouts became unknown. We petitioned to search within the domain, and the night before last it was learned he had gone to his sister's place in Makinoshima village, so he was immediately taken back to the group quarters. We ordered strict confinement. Although this was due to illness, it was still misconduct, so we wished to revoke his stipend and order him to leave the castle town, which was approved. Subsequently, on the 11th of the 6th month, due to financial difficulties and high debts causing hardship for the entire group, a replacement under private employment was approved as requested.
1. In the 3rd month of Bunka 5 (1808), Tanabe Yōzō from Castellan Sugita Gonnosuke's group had not completed his required years of service but requested leave due to illness, with a relative wishing to succeed him. Gonnosuke reported this through a written petition from the group officers, so this matter was communicated to the senior councilors, who responded that it was at their discretion. Gonnosuke's yoriki were summoned and informed. Note: There were no additional written petitions from Gonnosuke.
