（の）民を厚く（お見舞いくださいました）。大勢の（被災者）ではございましたが、御手当・御救済があり、御領分の極めて難渋している者共が他所へ出ていかないよう御取り計らいくださいましたこと、有り難い御事は申し上げるばかりでございます。

さて、御出張につき、御領分村々の役人・頭立（かしらだち）の方々が御伺いを立てること、数日にもなりました。恐れ多いこととは存じますが、稀なる出来事ゆえ、後々の記録にもなるかと思い、右の松本御出張・同御領所御出張・松代御出張の御名前を、ほのかに（かろうじて）調べ、ここに記します。

The above officials made repeated inspection visits during the earthquake, the flooding, and the recession of the waters, showing great compassion toward the people—

—and extending generous relief to the large numbers (of victims). Assistance and relief provisions were distributed, and measures were taken to ensure that those in extreme distress within the domain would not be forced to leave. Words alone cannot express how grateful (we are) for this.

Regarding these official visits, the village officials and leading men (kashiradachi) of the domain's villages spent several days presenting their petitions and inquiries (to the inspectors). Though it feels presumptuous (to record this), it is so rare an event that I thought it might serve as a record for posterity, and so I have here set down the names of those dispatched from Matsumoto, from the same domain's territory, and from Matsushiro, gathered as best I could.
