Going around and around, blocked in two layers.
To the south of the continuation of Mount Iwakura lie the villages of Kami and Sakurai. In Kami Village, the landslide affected only the cultivated fields (分地), with a minor slip; in Sakurai Village, it reached into the village itself, with a considerable slip that came to rest at the middle slope of the mountain, causing no obstruction to the Sai River.
Sakurai slips free, and one hears joyful cries —
"Not into the river!" — and it stops midway.
Furthermore, below the buried area, the mountain of Koichi Village collapsed, and Komatsubara Village on the opposite bank of the Sai River was already in grave danger.
Kamiichi — now the mountain of Koichi collapses —
Komatsubara Village is already in peril!
The waters of the Sai River had been dammed up for twenty days,
and drained away in an hour and a half — like a great sea rushing out.
As an offering of prayers for the souls of the many people who passed from this world,
I have compiled these words and offer them as flowers to the departed.
