岩倉山続き南之山方歌美村桜井村歌
美村は分地計り少々抜ケ桜井村は村へ掛
り大分抜ケ山之中段に止る犀川へ差障な

桜井はぬけて歌びの声を聞
川へはいやと中（チユウ）に止まる
又突埋の下小市村の山抜ヶ落犀川向ふの小松

上市や今は小市の山崩れ
小松原こそすでにあぶなし
犀川の水の廿日も溜りしを
一時半に引くや大海
世を去りし数多の人の供養とて
これをつゞりて花と手向ん
現代語訳
【右丁】
（山が）廻り廻って二重に（川を）留め切る。
岩倉山続きの南の山方、歌美村・桜井村について——歌美村は（山崩れによる）分地（＝崩落土砂）ばかりで、少々（地が）抜けたが、桜井村は村の方へかかり、かなり（地が）抜けて山の中段に止まった。犀川への差し障りはない。
桜井は抜けて歌びの声を聞け
川へはいやと中（ちゅう）に止まる
また、（川を）突き埋めた（土砂の）下流の小市村の山が崩れ落ち、犀川の向こうの小松

原村はすでに危うし。
上市や今は小市の山崩れ
小松原こそすでに危なし
犀川の水が二十日もの間溜まっていたのが、
一時半のうちに引くや大海（のように）
この世を去った数多くの人々の供養として、
これを綴りて花と手向けん

(The mountains) sweeping round and round, blocking (the river) in two layers.
Concerning the mountains to the south along the Iwakura mountain range — Utami Village and Sakurai Village: In Utami Village, there was only (collapsed) broken earth, and a small portion of the ground gave way. In Sakurai Village, the collapse reached as far as the village itself, and a considerable portion of the ground broke away, coming to rest at the middle slope of the mountain. There was no direct impact on the Sai River.
Sakurai breaks away — hear the sounds of singing (utabi)!
"Not into the river!" — it stops mid-air (in the middle slope).
Furthermore, downstream of the landslide fill, a mountain collapsed in Koichi Village, and across the Sai River, Komatsu-

hara Village was already in grave danger.
Kamiichi — and now Koichi's mountain has collapsed;
Komatsu-hara is already in peril.
The waters of the Sai River had been dammed for twenty days,
then drawn away in an hour and a half — like a great sea receding.
As an offering of memorial prayers for the great many people who departed this world,
I bind these words together and offer them as flowers to the dead.
