[Right folio] At Zenkōji temple, the main hall, the main gate, and the Daikanjin were undamaged, but the Niōmon (Deva gate), Honganji, twelve affiliated temples of the Chūshū sect, and many other temples suffered damage. In the neighborhoods of Ōmonchō, Gochō, and Gondōchō, as well as other areas, buildings were destroyed by the earthquake and subsequently consumed by fire. In the town of Inariyama, all houses were destroyed and the area was then engulfed in fire. In Yahata (Yawata), some townhouses collapsed but some survived, and there was no fire. The Yahata Shrine was undamaged. Iiyama Castle and its surrounding castle town suffered great devastation from the earthquake, though there was no fire. In Shinmachi, all buildings were destroyed, and after the fire, the area was additionally flooded, making it a truly catastrophic disaster. In Matsushiro, there were some building collapses, but the damage was reportedly light. Areas that also sustained lighter damage included Ueda, Matsumoto, Aida-gumi, Omi-gumi, Kawate-gumi (in the same district), Ueno-gumi, Nariai-gumi, Hotaka-gumi, and other southern districts. [Left folio] Suwa, Saku, Ina, and the areas from Zenkōji toward Echigo, as well as the Matsukawa-gumi and Ōmachi-gumi districts, from Shikajō northward to the Echigo border at Itoigawa, and also the areas of Togakushi, Yamanaka Shinmachi, and the deep mountain interior, all sustained lighter damage. It was also said that the Kantō region experienced only minor earthquake damage. Among the areas nearby that suffered severe building destruction from the great earthquake, the largest were Kawanakajima, and in the mountain districts: Ōoka, Nakamaki, and Minamimaki. Additionally, in Kamijō, a Zen temple (main hall completely destroyed and then flooded), and Anyōji of the same sect (main hall completely destroyed but no flooding), and Unzōji of the same sect (ground collapsed, fire broke out, and then flooding) were reported. Furthermore, in Shimohito village, there was a large-scale landslide and flooding. At Kōzenji temple in Tanaka (Zen sect), the building was half destroyed. At Tenshōji temple in Imizumi village, Miyahira-gumi (same sect), the main hall was completely destroyed. In Makinoshima, a large number of houses were destroyed.
