ではあったが、御本堂ならびに山門・大勧進は無事であった。それ以外では、仁王門・本願寺・中宗十二か寺、その他多くの寺が被害を受けた。大門町・後町・権堂町、その他にも各所で地震により家屋が倒壊し、その後火災にも見舞われた。さらにまた稲荷山の町では残らず家屋が倒壊し、その後火災となった。八幡は町家の倒壊が少々あったが残りは無事で火災はなく、八幡宮も無事であった。飯山御城は城下ともども大変な地震の揺れがあったが火災はなかった。新町は残らず倒壊し、そのうえ火災の後に浸水となり、まことにもって急難（緊急の災難）であった。松代は多少家屋の倒壊はあったものの軽微であったとのこと。続いて被害が薄かったのは、上田・松本・会田組・麻績組・同川手組・上野組・成相組・穂高組、その他南組、

諏訪・佐久・伊那・善光寺より越後の方面、またさらに松川組・大町組も四ヶ城より北、越後との境の糸魚川、また戸隠山・中新町・奥山中の方は被害が軽微であった。また関東筋も地震は少々あったとのことである。さらにまた近辺において大地震により家屋が倒壊したうちで大きな被害があったのは川中島、そして山中では大岡・中牧・南牧、その他に上条の禅宗玄真寺は本堂が倒壊し、そのうえ浸水した。同宗（禅宗）安養寺は本堂が倒壊したが浸水はなし。同宗雲宗寺は地盤が崩れ、火災にあい、そのうえ浸水した。またその他に下人村で大規模な地滑りがあり浸水した。また田中の光全寺（禅宗）は半壊。宮平組今泉村の天宗寺（同宗）は本堂が倒壊した。またさらに巻之島では多くの家屋が倒壊した。

However, the main hall (Hondō), the main gate (Sanmon), and the Daikanjin (the head administrative temple) were unharmed. Beyond these, the Niōmon (temple gate), Hongan-ji, twelve temples of the Chūshū sect, and many other temples suffered damage. In Daimon-chō, Ushiro-chō, Gondō-chō, and other areas throughout the town, buildings collapsed from the earthquake and were subsequently destroyed by fire. Furthermore, in the town of Inariyama, every single house collapsed and was then consumed by fire. In Hachiman, a small number of townhouses collapsed but the rest were spared, and there was no fire; the Hachiman Shrine also escaped harm. Iiyama Castle, along with its castle town, was severely shaken, but there was no fire. Shinmachi suffered total collapse, and on top of that, fire was followed by flooding — a truly dire emergency. In Matsushiro, there was some structural collapse, but the damage was reportedly light. Areas that similarly suffered only minor damage include: Ueda, Matsumoto, Aida-gumi, Omi-gumi, Kawate-gumi (of the same region), Ueno-gumi, Narial-gumi, Hotaka-gumi, and the Southern Districts (Minami-gumi),

Suwa, Saku, Ina, the area from Zenkō-ji toward Echigo, and furthermore Matsukawa-gumi, Ōmachi-gumi — also northward from Shikajō, to Itoigawa on the border with Echigo, and Togakushi-yama, Nakanshinmachi, and the deeper mountain regions — all suffered only light damage. It is also said that the Kantō region experienced only a minor tremor. Furthermore, among the nearby areas that suffered heavy destruction from the great earthquake, the most severely affected were Kawanakajima, and in the mountain areas, Ōoka, Nakamaki, and Minami-maki. Additionally, in Kamijō, the Zen temple Shinshin-ji had its main hall completely destroyed and also suffered flooding. The Zen temple Anyō-ji had its main hall completely destroyed but was not flooded. The Zen temple Unsō-ji suffered ground collapse, was struck by fire, and was subsequently flooded. Furthermore, the village of Shimohito suffered a large-scale landslide and flooding. In Tanaka, the Zen temple Kōzen-ji was half destroyed.
