現代語訳
「いかに万右衛門よ、お前は生まれつきの万吉の鼻を高くしようとして悪く育て上げたため、息子を一人だめにして、役に立たない者にしてしまったのだ。息子には少しも罪はない。これはみな親の育て方が悪いためである。慎むべきである。」
あまりに嘆きが深かったので、
息子を（元の姿に）戻してやるのである。
「ありがたく存じます」
こうして万吉は高慢をやめて真実の人となり、家は富み栄えた。

英語訳
"Listen, Manuemon! You tried to make your naturally-born son Mankichi's nose tall, but raised him poorly, thus ruining your son and making him into a useless person. Your son bears no fault at all. This is entirely due to the parent's poor way of raising him. You should be cautious."
Because his grief was so deep,
he returned his son (to his original form).
"I am most grateful."
Thus Mankichi abandoned his arrogance and became a true person, and his household prospered with wealth.
