苦しみも楽しみも、すべては自分の心しだい。あら玉の年のように長閑（のどか）に歳を重ねられない人こそが、浮き（憂き）世の苦しみを知るのだ。

Both hardship and pleasure lie within one's own heart. Those who cannot pass their years in tranquility — like the slow turning of the precious jewel-like seasons — are the ones who truly know the sorrows of this fleeting world.
