教訓袋（おしへぶくろ）といへる。書物（しよもつ）をあたふるなり。是（これ）をよみ而（て）。
福神（ふくじん）の全体（ぜんたい）を合点（がてん）し。日本（ひのもと）の教（おしへ）を守（まも）り。心（こゝろ）を
正直（しやうぢき）清浄（せうじやう）にせば。是（これ）に過（すぎ）たる。家督（かとく）はあるまじ。金（きん）
銀（ぎん）は。持人（もちて）によりて。却（かへつ）て家督（かとく）にならざれば。汝（なんぢ）よく

心がけ次第だとは言いながら、お前の家が野原（荒れ果てた土地）になってしまったことも、気の毒なことである。それゆえ今、お前にこの鈴木某が著した『福神教訓袋』と申す書物を与えるものである。これを読んで、福神の真意をよく理解し、日本古来の教えを守り、心を正直・清浄に保つならば、これ以上の家督（財産・家業）はあるまい。金銀は、持つ人によっては、かえって家督の助けにはならないものであるから、お前はくれぐれもこの書をよく読んで、しっかりと体得するならば、たちまち富貴の身となり、子孫末代まで繁栄することだろう。

Though it is said that all depends upon one's own heart and disposition, it is truly pitiable that your household has been reduced to a wasteland. Therefore, I now present to you this book called the *Fukujin Oshiebukuro* ("The Gods of Fortune's Sack of Teachings"), compiled by one Suzuki of such-and-such name. Read this, come to fully understand the true nature of the Gods of Fortune, uphold the ancient teachings of Japan, and keep your heart honest and pure — and there shall be no greater inheritance than this. Gold and silver, depending on who possesses them, may in fact fail to serve as a true foundation for one's household. Therefore, read this book with great care and thoroughness, and if you truly master its teachings, you shall swiftly find yourself blessed with wealth and nobility, and your descendants shall flourish for generations to come.
