They searched throughout the province. From Ono-Yamada-shō Rokubō, Yoshikage's severed head was delivered through Shikibu-tayū (Asakura Kagemitsu), and the report was made to Lord Nobunaga.
Item: The entire province of Echizen was granted to three men [marginal note: "no"] who had turned against Yoshikage. Maeba Ukon'e no Shōshō took the name Sakurada Harima no Kami and was appointed to oversee the provincial administration (shugo-sho) of Echizen, being placed in the castle of Tonda (Toyoda). The Ono district was granted to Asakura Shikibu-tayū, who made it his residential castle. Kakuda Hikouemon no Jō was granted the district of Fuchū, which he made his residential castle. Lord Nobunaga's words were: "Surely an ikki (peasant uprising) will arise. The three of you must consult one another and maintain proper offense and defense." He then departed on the same 25th day toward the Azai district of Ōmi province, in the direction of Odani.
Item: From around the end of the eighth month of Tenshō 1 (1573), Asakura Shikibu-tayū, Sakurada Harima no Kami, and Kakuda Hikouemon no Jō — each having destroyed his own lord and made himself lord in turn — grew increasingly arrogant with each passing day and month. When former colleagues spoke to them, they would not even spare a glance, and the bonds of the past... [continued on the next page]
