We do not know from which generation of our ancestors the stipend (shintaikō) originates. We have not inherited knowledge of the year and month in which we were appointed as御一家 (go-ichiza, a family of allied status), nor the name of the intermediary (mōshitsugi), nor the year and month of the succession confirmation. The aforementioned black-sealed document (go-kokuin) was lost in a fire that spread from a neighboring property (ruika) at the Sendai residence. Gyōbu died of illness in the tenth month of Keichō 17 (1612). Gyōbu's legitimate heir, Nakatsukasa Munekage of the same clan name, was granted succession to the estate (atoshiki) without any irregularity. We have not inherited knowledge of the year and month in which the succession was petitioned, nor when it was officially granted, nor the name of the intermediary. During the reign of Gizansamа (Date Tadamune), at the time of the general cadastral survey (sō go-kenchi) during the Kan'ei era, an additional grant was bestowed for a two-tenths surplus (niwarideме) found in the survey, amounting to approximately forty kanmon in total, bringing the total stipend to one hundred and twenty kanmon.

We were also granted the border territory (sakaime) of Nоtezaki Village in Esashi District, and even a rural residence (zaigō yashiki) was granted at that location. We have not inherited knowledge of the intermediary. We are in possession of a black-sealed document (go-kokuin) issued on the fourteenth day of the eighth month of Kan'ei 21 (1644). Regarding the wild meadowland (noyachi) adjacent to the granted territory of Nоtezaki Village, in Meireki 2 (1656), on the thirteenth day of the ninth month, the district administrator (gunjishi) of that time, Mabuchi Hayato, personally inspected the site and issued a written declaration that there were no obstacles. Based on this document, on the fifteenth day of the second month of the following year (Meireki 3, 1657), the grant was made through Tsuda (the late) Buzen. Following the new survey (okome) with the cadastral measuring rod (go-sao), the assessed value was established at seventeen kanmon and ninety-four mon. As for the year and month [continued on next page]...
