御上米御改役の御勘定
堀谷喜兵衛様、御普請役

上下合わせて十二人程で九日に
松島宿にお泊りになってお出でになる
様子を申し上げたところ、役所の
席において松本辺りの丁代五人で
聞き合わせに差し遣わすよう仰せ付けられたので
恐れ入りますと申し上げて帰り、同役と
相談して、喜多屋伝右衛門、富屋
四郎兵衛の両人が明日六日早朝に
出立して参るよう、なお
松島宿についてよく聞き合わせ、
どちらからお出での様子か詳しく
承り合うよう申し渡した

Year of the Monkey, 12th month, 5th day
From the wholesale dealer of Ichimiya Kimura village to the government office:
Regarding the rice tax inspection official, accounting officer
Horitani Kihei-sama, and two construction officials,
along with one yokome (inspector) official,
totaling about twelve people including servants, who will
arrive and stay at Matsushima inn on the 9th day.
When this matter was reported, it was ordered at the
government office meeting that five representatives from around Matsumoto
should be dispatched to make inquiries.
I humbly accepted this order and returned, then consulted with
my colleagues. Kitaya Denaemon and Tomiya
Shirobei, both men, will
depart early morning tomorrow on the 6th day.
Furthermore, I instructed them to make thorough inquiries
at Matsushima inn and
learn in detail from which direction these officials are coming.
