か家の洗鯉（あらいこい）なり久しく生 簀（す）の
うちにありて俎板の上になを
され丑？にかうよと見えたる所に
汝（なんち）か質（しち）にいれたりし三つうろこの
徳によりふしきに命たすかりたつ
それ猿（さる）は人間に毛か三 筋（すち）たら
す鯉（こい）は龍に三つうろこ足らす
つたへ聞北条家にはおくるおりさん【？】
江島の弁天のさつけ給ひし
みつうつこありと聞これこそは究？
くつめ？きたさのさのゝ源左衛門が
皮肉（ひにく）にわけ入酒色を以てかれを
まとはし汝をたのんて質？物に入
去ぬる大水になかれし時かりに
鯉川壱丁と名のり人間のすかた
と変じふるくちきの浮木にのり
なんなく鱗はとり得たれど
おれ一人天上してわいらが方に
天井見せるはあまり一国なもの
なれば向ふの牛のごぜんを頼み
さてこそ汝をよびよせたりそれ
鱗はこけ也こけはすなはち不通
なり今天下に大通の道行はれ
こけはさら〳〵入用なし上は北条
のおれき〳〵下は汝らごときの
町人貴賤上下ひりくるんで皆
大通へみちひかんとこけやうろこは
此方へせしめうるしと出かけたり
しかれども汝が家はふるき家に
て源のより信の御内にまいりては

現代語訳
「我は葛西家の洗い鯉なり。久しく生簀の内にありて、俎板の上に載せられ、丑の刻に食われようと見えたところに、汝が質に入れたりし三つ鱗の徳により、不思議に命助かったのだ。
それ、猿は人間に毛が三筋足らず、鯉は龍に三つ鱗足らず、と伝え聞く。北条家には贈る折、江島の弁天の授け給いし三つ鱗ありと聞く。これこそは、きっと佐々野源左衛門が皮肉にも分け入り、酒色を以て彼を惑わし、汝を頼んで質物に入れ、去ぬる大水に流されし時、仮に『鯉川壱丁』と名乗り、人間の姿と変じ、古朽木の浮木に乗り、難なく鱗は取り得たれど、俺一人天上して、われらが方に天井見せるはあまりに一国一城の主のようなものなれば、向こうの牛の御前を頼み、さてこそ汝を呼び寄せたり。
それ、鱗は苔なり。苔はすなわち不通なり。今天下に大通の道行われ、苔はさらさら入用なし。上は北条の御歴々、下は汝らごときの町人、貴賤上下ひっくり返して皆大通へ道引かんと、苔よ鱗よ、此方へ出でよ」と言って出かけたり。
