一 春（はる）に至（いた）りて余寒（よかん）も薄（うす）くならば家々（いへ〳〵）相応（そうおう）
に天水（てんすい）をけをやねに上（あげ）用水（ようすい）をも汲置（くみおき）
べしかやぶきわらやにはやねへ打（うち）こしに
大綱（おゝつな）をさげ大（おゝ）やねには軒（のき）と中ほとに足（あし）
かゝりに木か竹を綱（つな）にゆひ付てやねの上（うへ）
にて火をふせくに足場（あしば）のよき様（よう）にすべし
勿論（もちろん）水（みづ）箒（ほうき）を所々に立（たて）おくべし右の支（し）
度（たく）にわづかのなわのついゑ又 人（ひと）隙（ひま）を厭（いとひ）
て出火の節（せつ）飛（とび）火をふせきかねて家を焼（やく）
事 実（じつ）に小利 大損（だいそん）といわんや一銭（いつせん）おしみの百

現代語訳
一、春になって余寒も薄らいだならば、家々はそれぞれに応じて天水桶を屋根に上げ、用水も汲み置くべきである。茅葺きや藁葺きの家には、屋根へ打ち越しに大綱を下げ、大きな屋根には軒と中ほどに足がかりとなるよう木か竹を綱に結び付けて、屋根の上で火を防ぐのに足場が良くなるようにすべきである。もちろん水箒を所々に立て置くべきである。右の支度にわずかな縄の費用、また人手の手間を惜しんで、
出火の際に飛び火を防ぎきれずに家を焼いてしまう事は、まさに小さな利益のために大損をするというべきか。「一銭惜しみの百損」を知らないという世話（ことわざ）に違わぬ事である。愚かな事である。平常穏やかな時にこの道理をよくよく考えて、少しの費用を惜しまず、毎年早めに支度をしておくべき事である。
