て持行（もちゆき）重（かさね）おけば道具も損（そん）ぜずばせきも
とらず十｜倍（ばい）の勝手（かつて）也又｜土蔵（とぞう）のなき所なら
ばあき地にかさねおき上にぬれ莚（むしろ）を懸（かけ）て
度々（たび〳〵）むしろに水をかくれば蔵も同事なり
此 益（えき）のある事を考（かんかへ）てかわこをいくつも紙
にてはりて置 急火（きうくわ）の折又はすゝはらいの
時にも用ひて調法（てうほう）たるべき事なり
一 寺院（じいん）屋敷方の類焼（るいしやう）は只とび火にて焼（やけ）る
事なれば出火の節（せつ）すはやく家ごとに梯（はし）
子（ご）をかけ水ほうきを持て上（あが）り風 上（かみ）の家（いへ）
を第一にふせくべし家やけされば内の
財宝（ざいほう）はおのづから皆（みな）残（のこ）る事なり然（しか）る
に火事といへば家をば皆（みな）焼（やく）物（もの）とおもひ
麤末（そまつ）にして先（まつ）家財（かざい）にとんぢやくする事

現代語訳
小分けにして軽くし、十回運ぶべき小物を一つにまとめて持ち運び、重ねて置けば道具も損じず、場所も取らず、十倍の便利さである。また土蔵のない所ならば、空き地に重ねて置き、上に濡れ筵を掛けて、たびたび筵に水をかければ、蔵と同じ事である。この有益な事を考えて、籠をいくつも紙で張って置き、急な火事の折、またはすす払いの時にも用いると、便利なものとなるべき事である。
一、寺院・屋敷方の類焼は、ただ飛び火によって焼けるものであるから、出火の際にはすばやく各家ごとに梯子をかけ、水箒を持って上がり、風上の家を第一に防ぐべきである。家さえ焼けなければ、中の財宝はおのずから皆残るものである。然るに、火事といえば家は皆焼けるものと思い、粗末にして、まず家財に執着する事は愚かな事である。飛び火のわずかなうちに早く
