現代語訳
……にて溶いて付けるもよし。右の内で有り合わせたるものを早く付けるべし。総じて、焼け跡へ水を付ければ殊のほか痛むものである。焼け跡の痛みには、その箇所をまた火であぶれば、痛みが止まるものである。このようなことは、平生から覚えて人にも教えておくべきことである。
一、火消しの手伝いに来た者で、見知らぬ人であれば、その来た人を屋根の上、その他水配りに使うべきこと。
一、夜更けに出火、その他急なることがあっても、戸を叩かれたからといって、むやみに戸を開けてはならない。戸を早く開ければ、押し込み・狼藉のことがあると聞き及んでいるゆえである。様子をとくと聞いて、火を灯した後に開くべし。出火・急事であれば、かねて定めておいた場所に蝋燭を灯して、働くべきことである。
