かさねゆくは道にてせり合う急（きふ）にやけ
来る時には精力（せいりき）つきて命（いのち）にかへべき
やうなければ是非（ぜひ）なく打（うち）すてゝ｜迯去（にげさる）事
数度（すど）見聞及たる事也｜殊（こと）に女わらべ
なとに引せばいよ〳〵｜心得（こゝろゑ）てかろく入
て只（たゞ）せりあはぬ先（さき）にはやく持行（もちゆく）事
肝要（かんよう）なる事なり
一 車長持も持（もた）ず至（いたつ）て貧（ひん）なる人は常（つね）
にかやう紙帳（してう）をちかくにおき急火（きうくわ）のせつ
それに物（もの）を入てよわき人はむしろに
のせて引出（ひきいだ）すべし又うすべりの小口（こくち）
を切（きり）さきてかますとなし物を入これも
持行（もちゆき）なりかたき者（もの）はむしろにのせて引
出すべきなりいつれも早業（はやわざ）にて勝（かつ）
手（て）よきものなりかねて心得（こころゑ）へき事也

現代語訳
重ねていくのは道中で渋滞を起こし、急に火が燃え広がってきた時には体力が尽きて命に関わるような状況になってしまうので、やむを得ず荷物を打ち捨てて逃げ去ることを何度も見聞きしたことである。特に女性や子どもなどに引かせるのであれば、なおさら心得て軽く荷物を入れて、ただ渋滞しない先に早く持ち運ぶことが肝要なことである。
一、車長持も持たず非常に貧しい人は、常に紙帳をそばに置き、急火の際にはそれに物を入れて、体力の弱い人は筵に載せて引き出すべきである。また、臼すべりの小口を切り裂いて叶麻袋となし、物を入れ、これも持ち運びが困難な者は筵に載せて引き出すべきである。いずれも手早い作業で都合の良いものである。あらかじめ心得ておくべきことである。
一、常に使わない古い竈には必ず鼠穴が
