ひへたる時にしまひ入（いれ）ては火難（くわなん）はこれなき
事なり
一 木（き）小屋よりの出火（しゆつくわ）時々 有事（あること）なりたぶん
は消炭（けしすみ）の火気（くわき）残（のこ）りたるを早（はや）く持行（もちゆき）
入おく故（ゆへ）也 平生（へいせい）下々によくおしへおきて
先（まつ）土（つち）の間（ま）にひろけて一夜（いちや）もすぎて
もち行へき事
一 在郷（ざいこう）の出火は大（おゝ）かたは田畑（たはたけ）のこやしを入おく
小屋より出る事多（おゝ）し是はわらあくたな
んどを焼（やき）てこやしにするに火気（くわき）さめたる
とおもひて持（もち）行（ゆく）ゆへなりわらの火ははやく
きゆれども其（その）中（なか）に木（き）の端（はし）なんどありて
火の残（のこ）りたるをしらずして早（はや）く持（もち）ゆけば
なり一夜（いちや）も庭（には）にさましてやるときは火事
とは成ましき事なり

現代語訳
冷えた時にしまい入れれば火災はこれ以上ない事である。
一、木小屋からの出火は時々ある事である。大抵は消し炭の火気が残っているのを早く持って行って入れておく故である。平生、下々の者によく教えておいて、まず土の間に広げて一夜も過ぎてから持って行くべき事である。
一、在郷の出火は大抵は田畑の肥料を入れておく小屋より出る事が多い。これは藁や塵芥などを焼いて肥料にするのに、火気が冷めたと思って持って行く故である。藁の火は早く消えるけれども、その中に木の端などがあって火の残っているのを知らずして早く持って行けばそうなる。一夜も庭に冷ましてからやる時は火事とはならないものである。
一、炬燵からの出火はどこにも数度ある事である。

Item: Fires in rural areas mostly originate from sheds where fertilizer for rice fields and farmland is stored. This happens because people burn straw and refuse to make fertilizer, then carry it away thinking the fire has cooled down. While straw fires extinguish quickly, there may be pieces of wood among the straw that retain fire, and people unknowingly carry these away quickly. If they let it cool in the yard for a night, it would not cause a fire.
