を打付用ひてそのまゝ火うち箱を棚（たな）へ上
おく事なかれ彼（かの）火口（ほくち）より自然（しぜん）ともへいで
棚（たな）よりかべにやけうつる時はとなり手まへ
の差別（しやべつ）もなくなりてしれず争（あらそ）ふなり
ゆへに火うち箱ふるくならばあたらしくすべし
箱は桐（きり）か栗板（くりいた）にてさすべし又ほくち入の
内をいたねにてはる時は夫（それ）よりしての火｜災（さい）
は極（きはめ）て有まじき事也是をよく考（かんがへ）て
何より大切（たいせつ）に致（いたす）べきことなり
一 在郷（ざいごう）町によらずまたは貧（ひん）なるもの一人者（ひとりもの）
なんと松葉（まつば）や木葉（きのは）かんな屑（くづ）の類を焼（たき）
さして不図（ふと）立出（たちいで）火災と成事是又｜数度（すど）
有し事也かねて心得（こころへ）して其（その）たき物有
所より引はなして焼（たく）べきなり入物に
取分（とりわけ）持（もち）来り置（おい）てたく時はたとへ火を
たきさし出（いづ）るとも火のうつるべき筋（すじ）
現代語訳
火を打ち付けて使用した後、そのまま火打箱を棚へ上げて置いてはならない。その火口から自然に燃え出して、棚から壁に焼け移る時は、隣家と自分の家の区別もつかなくなって、出火元が分からず争いになるのである。故に火打箱が古くなったら新しくするべきである。箱は桐か栗板で作るべきである。また火口入れの内側を板で張る時は、それによる火災は極めて起こりにくいことである。これをよく考えて、何より大切にするべきことである。
一 在郷の町に関わらず、また貧しい者や一人者などが松葉や木の葉、かんな屑の類を燃やしかけて、ふと立ち去り火災となる事、これもまた度々あったことである。予め心得ておいて、その燃やす物がある所から離して燃やすべきである。容器に取り分けて持参し置いて燃やす時は、たとえ火を燃やしかけて外出するとも、火の移るべき筋道

After using a flint and steel to strike fire, do not place the fire-making box directly onto a shelf. The tinder may spontaneously ignite and spread from the shelf to the wall, making it impossible to distinguish between one's own house and the neighbor's house, leading to disputes over the source of the fire. Therefore, when a fire-making box becomes old, it should be replaced with a new one. The box should be made of paulownia or chestnut wood. Also, when the inside of the tinder container is lined with boards, fires caused by such boxes become extremely unlikely. Consider this carefully and treat it as a matter of utmost importance.
One: Whether in rural towns or otherwise, poor people or those living alone often set pine needles, tree leaves, wood shavings and the like on fire, then suddenly leave, causing fires. This has also happened many times. One should be mindful of this beforehand and burn such materials away from where the combustible materials are stored. When taking such materials in a separate container and burning them, even if one sets a fire and goes out, there should be no path for the fire to spread
