ならは火 ｜災（さい）とは成へからず皆（みな）此わけに
こゝろの付（つか）ざるゆへなり
一 油（あふら）をせんじかう薬（やく）を練（ねる）ときは其（その）なべふた
をそばに置（おき）もしあふらに火うつらば
早（はや）くふたをすべしあわてゝ水をかく
れば油（あふら）の火は飛（とび）あがり屋根へ付も
の也かねて心得（こゝろゑ）おくべき事なり
一 作事（さくじ）せばたばこ呑（のみ）所を定（さだめ）おきて
その外小屋場へ火をもち行事を堅くいま
しむべき事
一 紙燭（しそく）手しよく惣（さうじ）てはたか火を居間（いま）より外（ほか）
堅（かた）く無用たるべし常々｜格（かく）を立（たて）おきて挑（てう）
灯（ちん）あんどんのるいを用ゆべきなり
一 手代下々夜ふけ他より帰りて挑灯（てうちん）の
火を其まゝ燈し置｜伏（ふし）て後（のち）たばこ抔（など）
呑（のむ）べからずくたひれねむりて火｜災（さい）と成
現代語訳
ならば火災とはならないはずです。皆このことに
心が付かないためなのです。
一 油を煎じたり薬を練ったりする時は、その鍋の蓋
を傍に置き、もし油に火が移ったら
早く蓋をするべきです。慌てて水をかけ
れば油の火は飛び上がり屋根に付く
ものです。予め心得ておくべき事です。
一 建築工事をする時は煙草を吸う場所を決めておいて
その他小屋場へ火を持って行く事を堅く戒
めるべき事
一 紙燭や手燭、総じて裸火を居間以外では
堅く使用禁止とするべきです。常々規則を立てておいて提
灯や行灯の類を用いるべきです。
一 手代や下々が夜更けに他から帰って来て提灯の
火をそのまま灯し置き、寝てから煙草など
吸ってはいけません。疲れて眠って火災となる

nearby, and if fire catches the oil,
quickly cover it with the lid. If you panic and pour water on it,
the oil fire will flare up and reach the roof.

and strictly forbid bringing fire to other work sites
or shed areas.
1. Paper candles, hand candles, and all open flames should be
strictly prohibited outside of living rooms. Establish rules regularly and
use lanterns and oil lamps instead.
1. When clerks and servants return from elsewhere late at night with lanterns,
they must not leave the fire burning and then smoke tobacco
after lying down to sleep. Falling asleep while tired leads to fires.
