現代語訳
（前ページより続き）頭巾などに用いるもので、軽くて水火ともに移らず、値段も安く、特に重宝である。あらかじめ準備して置くべきである。
一、土戸の代わりに「泥木綿（どろもめん）」と呼ばれる優れたものがある。古木綿三枚を合わせにして、二、三寸おきに縦横十文字に縫い合わせ、その掛ける場所の寸法より四、五寸余分に見積もり、周囲に細い引き紐をかがりに付けて、四方を釘にてそのかがり糸を掛けて揃えるように拵えておく。出火の際には、大半切りまたは古桶に水一斗に塩一升・干し土の粉一升の割合で入れてかき混ぜ、右の木綿を浸して（開口部に）掛け、間があれば水を何度も内外からかけるべきである。土戸よりも優れたものである。
普段は畳んで、その受け場所の合わせ門を板札に付けておけば、邪魔にもならず、重宝

1. There is an excellent substitute for earthen doors called "doro-momen" (mud cotton). Take three layers of old cotton cloth, sew them together in a grid pattern of vertical and horizontal lines at intervals of two to three sun, calculate four to five sun extra beyond the measurements of the opening it is to cover, attach a thin drawstring around the perimeter as a hem, and prepare it so that the hemming cords can be hung evenly on nails on all four sides. In the event of a fire, put water (one to), salt (one sho), and dried powdered earth (one sho) into a large half-cask or old barrel, mix them together, soak the aforementioned cotton cloth in this mixture, hang it over the opening, and if time permits, repeatedly pour water over it from both inside and outside.
