有之を取あつめそこはかとなく書（かき）記（しる）して子孫（しそん）
に傳（つた）へ教（おしゆ）るものなり火事は災難（さいなん）の内一しほ
おもき事なれば随分（ずいぶん）昼夜（ちうや）大切（たいせつ）に用心（ようじん）すべき
事なり天下｜国家（こくか）の騒（さわ）ぎ又は人のため
身のためなれば毎月二三度も此一冊を家
内のものによく讀（よみ）聞せがてんさせて人にも
おしへ平生（へいぜい）油断（ゆだん）なく出火（しゆつくは）のせつはわけて
親疎（しんそ）の人だてなく深切（しんせつ）にはやく｜防（ふせ）くへし

現代語訳
これらの経験を集めて、とりとめもなく書き記して子孫に伝え教えるものである。火事は災難の中でも最も重大な事であるから、十分に昼夜を問わず大切に用心すべき事である。天下国家の騒ぎであり、また人のため身のためでもあるので、毎月二三度もこの一冊を家内の者によく読み聞かせて理解させ、人にも教えて、平生油断なく、出火の際は特に親疎の人の区別なく親切に早く防ぐべきである。
その善根は限りないであろう。もし大火に及ぶときは、何万人が悲しみ、また財宝の損失はどれほどになるであろうか。故に火事というものは、我が髪に付いた火を救うかのように真実に防ぐべきである。そうすれば神明にも通じ、天道の助けを得ることは疑いないものである。

Fire is the most serious among all disasters, so one must be extremely careful day and night without fail. Since it concerns the peace of the nation and is for the sake of both others and oneself, this booklet should be read aloud to household members two or three times each month to ensure their understanding, and they should teach others as well. In daily life, one must never be careless, and when a fire breaks out, one should quickly help prevent it with sincere care, making no distinction between close and distant acquaintances.
Such good deeds would be limitless. Should a great fire occur, tens of thousands of people would suffer grief, and how much wealth would be lost? Therefore, one should prevent fires as earnestly as if rescuing flames that had caught one's own hair. By doing so, one would surely communicate with the divine spirits and receive help from Heaven without doubt.
